CAS Project Reflection (April 17th, 2026)

Planning & Intention
For my CAS project, I participated in organizing activities for the IBDP Convention at Vilnius Lyceum. I was motivated to choose this project because I wanted to contribute to a meaningful event that brings together students from different IB schools. I also wanted to challenge myself by working in a team and taking part in planning activities for a larger group of participants.

Our main goal was to create engaging, creative, and relaxing activities that would allow participants to interact, express themselves, and reflect. We chose to organize meditation, painting, and straw garden activities because they provided a balance between creativity and relaxation, while also being accessible to everyone regardless of skill level.

Process & Action
During the planning stage, we discussed ideas and divided responsibilities within the group. I took responsibility for organizing the reflection part of the activities, where participants would share their thoughts after completing the tasks. This required planning how to guide discussions and ensure a comfortable environment.

During the event, many things went well. The activities were engaging, and participants were interested and involved. The atmosphere we created was calm and welcoming, which encouraged people to participate actively and share their ideas. Our teamwork and preparation helped the event run smoothly.

However, there were also challenges. Managing time between different activity stations was sometimes difficult, and we had to adapt quickly when things did not go exactly as planned. Some participants were initially hesitant to engage in reflection. To overcome this, I encouraged them by asking open questions and creating a supportive environment, which gradually helped them feel more comfortable sharing their thoughts.

Learning & Growth
Through this experience, I developed several important skills, including teamwork, communication, leadership, and organization. I also improved my ability to adapt to unexpected situations and manage time effectively.

This project demonstrated multiple CAS learning outcomes:

  • LO2: I took on the challenge of organizing and leading activities for a large group.
  • LO3: I contributed to planning and structuring the project.
  • LO4: I remained committed throughout all stages of the project.
  • LO5: I worked collaboratively with my group to achieve a shared goal.
  • LO6: The project promoted well-being, creativity, and interaction among students from different backgrounds.
  • LO7: I helped create a respectful and inclusive environment for all participants.

Personal & Interpersonal Development
This experience taught me a lot about myself and others. I realized that I am capable of taking responsibility and leading parts of a project, but I also saw that I need to continue improving my confidence when speaking in front of larger groups.

I also learned how important communication and cooperation are when working in a team. Everyone had different ideas and perspectives, and learning how to listen, compromise, and work together was essential. This experience challenged my perception of leadership, showing me that it is not only about giving instructions but also about supporting others and creating a positive environment.

Future Impact
If I were to do this project again, I would focus more on time management and planning smoother transitions between activities. I would also prepare more strategies to encourage participation during reflection sessions.

This experience will have a lasting impact on me, as it improved my confidence, teamwork, and organizational skills. It also showed me how meaningful it is to create experiences that bring people together and positively influence others. I will carry these skills forward into future projects and group work situations.
