On the 7th of October, my friend Augustas Binkis, our Lithuanian ASSIST coordinator Vaida Abraskeviciute, and I organized and presented an informational session for ninth and tenth graders about the opportunity to study abroad in the United States for one academic year through the ASSIST scholarship program. Our goal was to inform and inspire younger students in 9th and 10th grades to explore international education possibilities and to support them in understanding the application process, requirements, and benefits of the program.
During the session, we shared personal experiences and insights about studying abroad, cultural exchange, and adapting to a new academic environment. I helped prepare the presentation slides, coordinate logistics, and answer students’ questions. Working as a team, we ensured that the session was engaging, clear, and encouraging for those interested in applying.
Learning Outcome Addressed: LO2 – I undertook the challenge of presenting in front of a large audience, which helped me develop my public speaking, teamwork, and communication skills.
This activity allowed me to practice public speaking, teamwork, and leadership skills while contributing to my school community by providing valuable information. It was fulfilling to see younger students actively participating and showing genuine interest in the program. I also strengthened my communication skills and gained confidence in presenting to a larger audience.
