On the 15th of December, I had the opportunity to take part in my school’s annual charity event, “Pyragų diena” (“Cake Day”), which raised funds that were donated to the Blue-Yellow organization through a combination of bake sales and performances. This year, I contributed as part of a student band during the evening program, where we performed the song “Kitoks Pasaulis” by FOJE. The experience allowed me to blend my passion for music with meaningful service to the community.
Our band spent several rehearsals preparing for the performance. We discussed which song would best fit the reflective and meaningful nature of the event and eventually chose “Kitoks Pasaulis.” As the drummer, my role was especially important for keeping the rhythm steady and supporting the rest of the band. I had to coordinate closely with the other musicians, listen carefully, and maintain consistency throughout the song. Balancing rehearsals with schoolwork required commitment and organisation. This helped me develop perseverance and responsibility, as I needed to show up prepared and focused so the whole band could rely on me.
On the evening of the event, the school hall was filled with students, teachers, families, and community members, all gathered for a shared cause. By participating in “Pyragų diena”, I supported a charitable initiative through my skills and interests. Our performance contributed to the sense of community that encourages people to donate and take part in helping others.
Learning Outcome Adressed: LO2 – Performing live in front of an audience was both exciting and challenging, especially knowing the event supported an important cause. Managing nerves while maintaining steady rhythm helped me develop greater confidence and performance skills.
