On November 5th, I taught a friend how to play the drums. I wanted to share my skills and help someone else develop a new interest in music. Teaching required me to be patient and clear in explaining techniques, rhythms, and basic drum patterns.
I started by showing simple exercises and guiding my friend through basic beats. At first, it was challenging for them to coordinate hands and feet, but with practice and encouragement, they gradually improved. I had to think carefully about how to break down concepts into manageable steps and adapt my teaching style to make learning enjoyable and understandable.
Through this experience, I realized that teaching is not just about sharing knowledge, it’s also about listening, encouraging, and motivating others. Seeing my friend gain confidence and start playing rhythms correctly was very rewarding. I also developed better communication skills and learned how to be more patient and supportive, which are important not only in music but in many areas of life.
LO5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively– Working with my friend allowed me to see their progress firsthand and adjust my guidance accordingly
